Business Office

The Business Office at Cumberland River Hospital covers a variety of areas.  Beginning with the admitting office, where we collect the information needed to get you to the correct department for the type of service required, we have billers who specialize in certain areas such as Medicare, TennCare, and Commercial claims. There's also a Patient Financial Counselor who will work with you to discuss various payment options.  The switchboard operator, located on the main patient floor, will answer any questions or direct your call to the appropriate department.

Dietary

The Dietary Department delivers delicious healthy meals to patients and employees. They also offer nutritional counseling and diet instructions to patients who've been newly diagnosed with illnesses affected by diet. Our services extend outside our facility to those in the community who need help with their diet to control diabetes. Under the guidance of a Certified Dietary Manager and a Certified Dietician, our department ensures that the patient's health and dietary needs are addressed.

Environmental Services

Cleanliness is important. That's why our Housekeeping staff clean and disinfect daily. Whether it's buffing floors, cleaning restrooms, or emptying trash, we're committed to providing our patients and visitors with a healthy and clean environment. If the cleanliness of our facility doesn't measure up to your standards, please notify one of our staff members.

Laboratory

The Laboratory has undergone a major upgrade in equipment in the last five years. All major instruments have been replaced and a new computer system installed. We've done this because the accuracy and timely reporting of your results is our top priority.
The Laboratory is staffed by Medical Technologists and Medical Laboratory Technicians. Most of our staff members have over 15 years of experience.
The Laboratory is inspected yearly and accredited by the JCAHO and State of Tennessee.

Marketing

The marketing department is responsible for the planning, development and implementation of all the hospital's marketing strategies, marketing communications, and public relations activities, both external and internal.  This department is also responsible for preparing and distributing all communications/promotional materials (i.e. brochures, business cards, banners, flyers) and arranging any advertising/publicity for the hospital.  The marketing department works closely with other departments to provide feedback from outside sources in order that the highest quality of continued care is provided by the facility.

Medical Records

The Medical Record Department is responsible for overseeing the timely processing, completeness and when necessary, the retrieval of all patient medical records. The primary responsibility of the Medical Record Department is to assure that an adequate medical record is maintained for every patient in our hospital. Records are also maintained for outpatients and patients who are seen in our emergency room. Each medical record must contain sufficient information to identify the patient, to justify the diagnoses, to delineate the plan of treatment and to document the results accurately.

The medical record of the patient is held confidential and information may be released only in accordance with the law.

Nursing

Our caring and compassionate Nursing staff is where your care begins. From the Emergency Room to Patient Rooms, we'll be at your side. Your Nurse is the person who you'll see most often, that's why we make professionalism our top priority. If you have a special need or request, let one of our Nursing Staff know.

Outpatient Surgery

With improved technology and advances in anesthesia and pain control, many less invasive surgical procedures are now being performed on an outpatient basis. Common procedures that are now routinely performed include hernia repairs, breast biopsies, and gallbladder removals. Also performed in this department are colonoscopy and endoscopy procedures. If you are a candidate for minor outpatient surgery or a scope procedure, a referral can be made by your health care provider.

Pharmacy

The Pharmacy is staffed by two board certified pharmacy technicians and a pharmacist with a doctorate in pharmacy. We review all patients medication profiles for any pharmacokinetic needs, drug-drug interactions, and adverse drug reactions. We are available to our physicians for any consultations on a 24 hour basis and we work closely with those physicians in order to make drug changes that will improve the care we provide to our patient's.

Radiology

Diagnostic Medical Imaging is an essential component of our patients' healthcare environment.
All members of our diagnostic x-ray staff are registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist. In addition to diagnostic x-ray, we provide state of the art CT (computerized tomography) with our high speed multi-slice whole body scanner.
Cumberland River Hospital is a Certified Mammography Facility accredited by the American College of Radiology. Our mammography technologists are registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist.
Our diagnostic ultrasound services are performed by sonographers registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
Our entire medical imaging staff takes great pride in offering high quality imaging services in a professional friendly atmosphere.

Rehabilitation Services

If you are in an accident and need rehabilitation or need help learning to walk again after a stroke, your physician or health care provider will refer you to our department. We offer many services, such as physical, occupational or speech therapy, to promote healing and ensure that you can return to work or maintain your current level of activity. We offer the latest techniques to ensure a speedy and healthy recovery and treat a wide range of conditions including low back pain, fractures, and total joint replacements.

Respiratory Therapy

Not being able to breath properly can be a frightening experience. That's why our department utilizes the latest procedures that help to alleviate shortness of breath. We also offer diagnostic tests that predict the ability of your heart and lungs to perform as expected. These tests can help your Physician prescribe a treatment plan that can eliminate future problems.

Skilled Nursing / Swing Bed Program

Cumberland River Hospital's Skilled Nursing/Swing Bed Program is designed to facilitate skilled rehabilitation care, which sometimes becomes necessary following an illness or injury. The program is designed for patients that are well enough to leave the acute care hospitalization, but not well enough to return home. Therapies while in the Skilled Nursing/Swing Bed Program include: rehabilitation for patients who have had a stroke, surgery, hip or knee replacement; IV medication therapy; and strength training after a lingering illness or prolonged hospitalization. This program allows patients to be close to home, family, and friends during their rehabilitation.
